Ope! We're back.
Like the mighty loon rising from a frozen lake, we, the Linux users of the Midwest, have risen once again in the Twin Cities. We have replaced our diskettes with USB drives. Our laptops no longer cause us to pull muscles when we lift them. Our internet is faster yet, confusingly, also slower.
Where did we go? Why did we leave? What have we been doing all these years? Those are unanswerable questions.
The important thing is that we have returned. We were spurred to action by Microsoft’s declaration to end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. Normally, that’s not a big deal. Windows versions come and go. However, this time the upgrade requires stringent hardware requirements. Entire generations of computers will be abandoned by this upgrade.
We can’t let the good people of the Twin Cities waste their hard-earned money and throw away perfectly good computers. We will rally and organize and and provide to them an alternative option.
Linux!
